Challenges of a Home Health Therapist

Home health care is on the rise as a viable option for therapy especially as the health model shifts from fee-for-service to value based care. Inpatient rehab stays are getting shorter and therapy is increasingly being provided at home due to the significant cost-savings 1,2). Permobil understands that home health is a unique setting, and we want to address the specific challenges to providing seating and wheeled mobility interventions in the home. Power Wheelchair Suspension: What You Need to Know and What to Look For

Today's blog is written by Rachel Fabiniek, our clinical educator in Australia. Rachel has been offering a blog series on drive wheel configuration which has led to this blog on the importance of power wheelchair suspension for the end user. How high can your wheelchair take you?

Power seat elevation is a seat function available on power wheelchairs that may allow a person using this wheelchair to perform tasks and reach things that they might not otherwise be able to do from a typical seated height. Permobil has continued to improve the functional use of power seat elevation. Not only do we offer power seat elevation, called Active Height™, we offer anterior tilt called ActiveReach™. ActiveReach™ can create different experiences and interactions for wheelchair users as it brings them into a more functional position for daily tasks and allows the person to interact with their environment in a whole new capacity. This blog will highlight the tremendous advantages of ActiveHeight™ with ActiveReach™ and why this function should always be a consideration for appropriate power wheelchair users.
